Time: 6:30PM - 7:30PM

Location: The Gathering Place, Rangely, CO

MEETING MINUTES

Current Business

Kelly reported on the following grant funding and financial items:

Grant Updates: 4R Animals was approved for the CPOF Spay, Neuter, microchip and medical fund in the amount of $8,000. This is a positive starting point for building relationships with benefactors. Kelly will be opening a separate account with Bank of the San Juans under the name of 4R Animals that will be used specifically for grant funds in an effort to keep the accounting clean. It was decided that the Town of Rangely Animal Shelter will invoice 4R Animals once per quarter. The invoices must include copies of the veterinary bills. Kelly will then disburse funds to the Town.

Gravel Request: The shelter is in need of pea gravel for the play yard. Christen reached out to Urie Trucking and discovered they do not carry that size of gravel. Laycie said there is a place in Vernal called KW Construction that carries different types of gravel. Kelly will reach out to them to find out the cost of gravel. Kelly knows of an individual who has volunteered to haul a load of gravel.

T-Shirts: Kelly had a sample of the t-shirts made by Dream Designs. For the initial 12 shirts ordered, the cost is $15 each. Once those twelve shirts are gone, any additional shirts ordered will cost $30 and $10 of that amount will go directly to 4R Animals. An order form was distributed to the committee and additional orders can be made directly to Dream Designs on her Facebook page.

April Marketing Plan: Kelly reported on the April marketing plan as outlined by Haley. The plan is as follows:

Plan - Spring into Action

Focus - Encourage involvement in improving the lives of animals during spring

Activities - Coordinate with the shelter to schedule a designated day for a group of volunteers to take all dogs on a walk simultaneously, allowing the shelter staff to focus on deep cleaning or spring repair tasks

Social Media - Share tips on reducing pet’s environmental paw print.

Group Walk: If a group walk could be organized where all of the dogs were taken out of the shelter simultaneously for an extended time, this might help the staff at the shelter complete any tasks they need to complete. This would be outside of their daily duties and could include spring cleaning and minor repairs. This led to a discussion regarding procuring additional volunteers. Laycie reported that Roxie Long brought the 4-H group to the shelter the previous Saturday and they played with the shelter dogs. Roxie indicated the group plans to return from time to time. Laycie reported that 4-H carries their own liability insurance, however waivers and paperwork must still be completed prior to anyone volunteering to work with the dogs.

Donation Jars: All purchases for the shelter are done through monies from the donation jars in town. These purchases include toys, collars, treats and food to be distributed to all dogs and cats housed at the shelter. While Haley is currently out of town for a family emergency, she plans to collect all of the jars when she returns to town. Kelly collected money from the jar at Dollar General today because it was overflowing. Kelly would like to recognize and thank all of the generous individuals in town that put money in the donation jars. 4R Animals, and the shelter, appreciate the generosity of everyone who gives to help support the shelter animals.

Open Discussion

Laycie reported on the dogs that are currently at the shelter: These are: Tobie, Dingo, Nyx, and Ash (adoption in progress). There are no cats available for adoption.

No further business.

Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
