General Meeting Minutes- November 2024

MEETING MINUTES
Kelly - Update on Grants- Looking into smaller grants to start with & talked about an organization that can possibly assist with Raymond’s surgery. Led into group collective chat about options for Raymonds surgery. Brace option from POSH dog knee brace brought up. All funds would have to be donated to cover Raymond’s surgery as the town does not have it in the budget anymore. Foster is also still needed for his recovery.
Haley- Raymond campaign financial update. Also called the vet to try and see about a payment plan, waiting on a call back for more information. Reviewed donation jar updates.
Katelyn- Brought up UNITA county businesses doing sponsorships for adoption fees from businesses to cover the cost of adoption for the animals- Haley to look into doing that locally. Our current costs of adoption- Dog $125/ Cat $10-$50 depending.
Christen- Current donations to the shelter from 4R Animals- 12 items ordered from amazon wishlist to the shelter, donated a dryer for the laundry at the shelter, and 4 bales of straw. Reviewed Oktoberfest information.
Haley- 4R Animals website is now up and running www.4ranimals.org (links directly to the shelter are set up in the website for those interested in fostering, adopting, or volunteering) Also working on getting us listed on Google.
Christen- Asked if there are new drawings for the shelter coming in 2025 (referring to Facebook post). Lisa responded that there are no new drawings but that she will send Christen the current drawings so we can add it to our website for the public to see updates.
Tammy- Fundraiser at the Craft Sales on December 7th. We will instead offer giveaways. Volunteers are being requested to help us on this day to man the booth (10AM-5PM).
Kelly- Idea of an adoption type event after Christmas time, and if our group could fund a training session for all adoptions on a certain date(coordinate with a local trainer). To continue this idea after the holidays.
Christen- Committees available to join- marketing, grant, volunteer committees available to join.
Laycie- Possible TikTok videos for dogs at the shelter, the town has talked about doing this, but needs some assistance getting this going.
Jeannie- talked about fostering animals and getting more information about fostering available to the public (possible testimonial videos).
Katelyn- Issues with fosters who do not show up to the adoption events, and overcoming this issue. Possible campaign- “Foster for the week of Christmas” as next promotion (working with Haley). There are currently 17 dogs and 6 cats in the shelter, the last 3 that the shelter has gotten have been owner surrender. Process to getting approved to be a foster is typically within 24 business hours to get evaluated/approved.
Katelyn- All animals at the shelter are located inside during the night and there are heat lamps located in the outdoor kennels & straw outside.
Haley- Issues getting a hold of someone at the college to get us listed on the volunteer flyers at the college. Jeannie to follow up about this with Haley to get the shelter listed on the flyer that is around the college.
Kelly - Asked if it is okay to do a personal post of FB page about adoptable animals, Katelyn approved as long as information that is posted about the animal is verified.
